Great time on the Little Red!
Quiet, mesmerizing sunsets over the Ozarks with the fog raising off the cold river brings back memories and those scenes from the mid 1970’s movie, “The Legend of Boggy Creek”!
You can look at one of the pics … More for a few moments with the lights out and see the subject that movie was based on, a true story, slowly appearing in the background shadows!!!
Great Trout Fishing during the day! Gets dark I’m gone! Just Kidding!
Was on my list of places if I was ever in the area I definitely would stop! And we will again!
BTW- No encounters, no sounds, no smells, but then we didn’t look to close here either!
Of 2 incidents during this road trip, a couple had significance.
One in particular, while in Eastern Tennessee one evening around 10 pm something freaked our cats out bad! The look in their eyes was one of fear, real fear and you can’t say that cats often show that!
Dogs around the campground and surrounding area went silent immediately and were quiet for some time! Even the calling bugs of the night shut up…
A whoop into a howl and not from a dog or any canine!
Just a plain, loud “whoop” from the mountains was the other interesting sound of the trip one night in another state!

7:30 hour trip with the last 1:30 hours with rising water from dripping springs access to the little red bridge. Stopping at Ramsey access. Beautiful one day float trip.

Ok, so this is a very beautiful river. Great trout fishing and a great river to canoe or kayak. The river level is controlled by Greers Ferry dam, so it can be subject to change at any moment. Waders need to be aware of river level at all … More times. Fisherman also need to be aware of sections of river that may have special fishing regulations so keep a trout fishing regulation book handy or pull up the game and fish web page on the smart phone. Most places, cell phone signal has not been a problem with me. Guide trout fishing services are also available for this river.
