With the day time temperatures being in the 90’s and a heat index somewhere in the 100’s. The SWPA has been running two units of water usually starting at 2 pm and running till 7 pm. On the weekends we have had a similar generation schedule but with some reduced flows. I’d expect the same generation schedule to continue until the temperatures start to come down a bit.

As of Wednesday August 17th the temperatures came down and the generation schedule changed along with rain in the forecast. At 2pm SWPA started running two units of water, for two hours. Let’s see if this continues as the temperatures start to drop a little.

The best bite has been early morning before it gets hot. Try fishing the deep holes and oxygenated riffles and alongside the moss beds. The falling water has been fishing well. Pheasant tails, Guide Choice Hares ear and Midges have been producing while fishing an indicator rig. The weekend generation schedule has been similar with some reduced flows. Always check the USACE Little Rock app for the generation schedule before heading out. Also click onto the water quality feature that shows water temperatures along the river. I’d expect to see the same generation schedule continue while we remain in this heat wave.

The current schedule has created excellent wading opportunities for the entire river. With actual temperatures in the 100’s forecasted for the entire week and with some reduced flows over the weekend, fish will get stressed out when the water temperature rises. Quickly return them to the river and try not to over play them.

Fishing Report July 6, 2022

For the past few days SWPA, South West Power Administration has been running 2 units of generation starting at 1 pm and running till 7 pm.
With high temperatures in the 90’s and heat index’s in the triple digits, I’d look for the SWPA to continue this generation schedule. We had a few days with very minimal generation on hot days and water temps at Dripping springs access were 69 degrees. From lack of generation. Let’s hope the SWPA continue to run water while it’s hot. Always check the USACE Little Rock app before heading out.
Also check the water quality feature on the app on days when there is not running much water. High water temps are stressful this time of year on fish. Quickly return them to the water and try not to over play them.
The best bite has been early in the morning. The current generation schedule has opened up opportunities to wade and fish the entire river. Nymphing the falling water from the boat has been great Pheasant tails, Guide Choice Hares ear & Sow-Bug patterns have been producing. Try fishing the deep holes and oxygenated riffles.

Fishing Report June 22, 2022

Greer’s Ferry Lake is 1-1/2 foot above power pool.

The Army Corp of Engineers are running a consistent generation schedule as of now. With temperatures in the 90’s and the lake above pool. The Corp has been running 2 units of water almost continuously for the last week.

On the days that they are not running 2 units continuously the start times have usually been 5am or 7am till midnight I think they will continue to run this same schedule till the lake gets down to power pool or we have rain in the forecast.

Always check the USACE Little Rock app for generation schedule before heading out.
On the days when they don’t run 24/7 and there’s a few hours for the water to drop out the bite has been good till the new batch of water hits. While fishing from a boat I’d stay ahead of the water and keep motoring down stream.

I’d fish Pheasant tails, Guide Choice Hares ear, eggs and San Juan worm’s they all have been producing. A deep water nymph rig has been productive set anywhere from 6ft to 12 foot deep while fishing the high water.

Fishing Report June 15, 2022

The Army Corp of Engineers have been running 2 units Usually starting at 7 am and running till midnight. Id expect the same schedule as long as we have hot weather in the forecast and no rain.

Fishing the falling water has been good. The best bite has been early in the morning before it gets hot and before the new push of water hits.
Pheasant tail nymphs, Guide’s Choice Hares ear and Midges have been working great in the falling water.

When the high water hits I’d run a deep water nymph rig up at the dam set from 6 ft to 12 foot deep or throw streamer patterns.

Fishing Report June 2, 2022

Greers Ferry Lake is 5.69 ft over the power pool. The Army Corp of Engineers have been running a consistent generation schedule lately. They have been running 2 units usually starting at 10 am and running till 10 pm. Always check the USACE Little Rock app before heading out.
